British designer Christopher Michael Shellis - who's taken note of a woman's love of shoes - spent three years creating the stilettos, which were crafted by skilled goldsmiths in temperatures of more than 1000C.

The traditional gift of chocolates on Valentine's Day hasn't been overlooked either, with a truly extravagant truffle being created by Danish chocolatier Fritz Knipschildt.
